<\/div><\/div><\/a><\/figure><\/div><\/div><\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\nCLAPs\u2019 \r\npowdered milk is a fraud. This conclusion is reached after reviewing the results \r\nof the chemical analysis performed on eight samples by the Institute of Food \r\nScience and Technology of Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV). The analysis \r\nwas conducted at the request of Armando.info, which collected several milk \r\npresentations of the milk included in the CLAPs from September to December \r\n2017.<\/p>\n\n\r\n\n
Naturally, \r\nMariana \u00c1lvarez is not aware of these results or the risk they entail for her \r\nson. Neither are aware the other mothers waiting in the J.M. de los R\u00edos \r\nchildren\u2019s hospital.<\/p>\n\n\r\n\n
\"The \r\npediatrician tells me that milk is calcium for children. That is why I give it \r\nto her only,\" says Omaira, the mother of a two-year-old girl and a \r\nthree-month-old boy. \"When I get the one that is very salty, the one with the \r\nlittle red cow, I sell it or change it for another one, because it makes her \r\nsick, it causes her diarrhea,\" adds this young mother who lives in Catia, a \r\npopular area in the west of the Venezuelan capital.<\/p>\n\n\r\n\n
For \r\nher, as for most of the population that lives with the minimum integral income \r\nof less than 800,000 bolivars (or four dollars, at the parallel market \r\nexchange), the possibility of acquiring the product through regular marketing \r\nchannels is impossible. The price of a bag of whole powdered milk ranges between \r\nBs. 638,120 and Bs. 288,231, depending on the brand and the weight of the \r\npresentation.<\/p>\n\n\n
\u201cThey are not powdered milk, even if they state so\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n
Her \r\nonly option is in the CLAP box, the Government-subsidized price of which \r\nrecently rose to 25,000 bolivars. However, even though the combo is still \r\naffordable, it does not mean that it is nutritious, at least in the case of the \r\npowdered milk it includes.<\/p>\n\n\n
Milky Way to Malnutrition<\/h2>\n\n\n
Although \r\nthey do not know the laboratory data, consumers have ways to realize \r\nit.<\/p>\n\n\r\n\n
\"Hopefully, \r\nthe milk is not Mexican. It is of poor quality, salty. And we have good quality \r\nproducts in our country. Children and senior citizens cannot drink that milk,\" \r\nwrote Twitter user @yanezcoromoto on January 19 to Freddy Bernal, national head \r\nfor CLAPs and Minister of Urban Agriculture. Two days later, the official had to \r\nread in his account another more emphatic twit: \"The milk included in the box is \r\ndisgusting,\" sentenced \r\n@vanezcoromoto<\/p>\n\n
